Detroit Elementary School

On the Road to Success…

October 15, 2008

Dear DES Families,

The second six weeks is very busy around Detroit Elementary.  We had a very successful open house and appreciate all the support from families.

We are gearing up for Red Ribbon Week and have great activities planned to learn about drug abuse prevention.  I hope you will take the opportunity to discuss safety with your child.  In addition, the second copy of Safety Briefs has been sent home and I hope each family will complete the fingerprinting kit for every child in your family.

Our Here We Grow on the Road to Success Character Education program is making a big difference at school.  I hope you are seeing the results at home as we study traits such as compassion, respect, and citizenship.  Don't forget to ask your child about our Monday Hall Calls.  Students are being recognized and assembling together week as good citizens in our school.

The PTO sponsored Harvest Festival is fastly approaching.  I encourage all of you to participate in this district wide event.  It is always a good time for everyone.

Remember, the Road to Success is Always Under Construction!  We are working diligently on getting the new building.  If you get a chance, visit the main hall of the school or the website and check out our construction pictures.  Progress is being made daily!

Have a great six weeks!
